Our Story
In 2024, a group of local neurodivergent adults came together after sharing similar experiences of feeling misunderstood by local services. Many felt they had nowhere safe to turn for understanding, connection or appropriate advice.

Initially, the group wanted to push for better access to diagnosis, treatment, and support. But we also began asking a bigger question: what support do neurodivergent adults need in the community, not just from services?

With support from the local social enterprise, Sleeping Giants, we ran an online survey in early 2024.
185 neurodivergent adults from across Dumfries and Galloway took part.
People told us they wanted:
-
better understanding of neurodivergence
-
clearer and fairer routes to diagnosis
-
community-based support and peer connection
-
a real say in shaping the services that affect their lives

In response, Think Differently Dumfries and Galloway was set up as a community group in June 2024.
